Biography
Born on September 11, 1974, Christopher Eickmann spent the majority of his youth performing as a highly awarded percussionist in every conceivable musical ensemble. He soon developed a great love of the symphony orchestra, jazz fusion, Broadway scores, drum core, and complex polyrhythmic rock, with influences ranging from Tchaikovsky to Rush. At the age of 14, Eickmann composed his first original film score on a Korg M-1, beginning his magnificent obsession with music, drama, and technology.
After two years of discovering raves and the power of electronic music, Eickmann attended the University of Florida on a percussion scholarship where he furthered his studies in music and theatre. Shortly after, he worked as a sound engineer for Walt Disney Entertainment before studying music composition on scholarship at New York University's famous Tisch School of the Arts.
Upon completion of his MFA, Eickmann formed the music production company Creative Scores, where he collaborated on projects ranging from concept albums to independent films. In the same year, Eickmann also joined the acclaimed Russ Michael's Band where he collaborated with founder Russ Michaels performing at legendary venues throughout the East Village.
In the fall of 2002 Eickmann left New York and moved to San Francisco where he co-founded the theatre company, Lila Theatre, co-creating and producing over fifty original productions. He later went on to receive a certificate in sound, voice, and music healing from the California Institute of Integral Studies and worked on his craft remotely at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Eickmann currently works as an independent composer and staff sound designer/composer for Creativity, Inc. He continues to further his artistic work composing music for the concert hall, film, theatre, dance, and contemporary media. When he's not composing music, Eickmann can be found enjoying life with his close friends, cat Jazz, and beloved wife, Jill.
